It's hot
I just got home from Florida (more on manatees, obesity, and Disney World later) and lookee what I got!

Hahaha..kidding. But seriously, is this not the sexiest thing you have ever seen?

I know what you're thinking. And you're right. It IS pink. And it is AWESOME. For reference, please note the old race chair:

Serviceable? Yes. Sexy, NO.

And sexy is all that matters. ALL THAT MATTERS I SAID!

PS. Ok the carbon fibre disc wheels, titanium steering system, and custom built factor might kind of matter but not NEARLY as much as the fact that it is PINK!

Aerodynamic !!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the carbon fiber. Light is right. It just looks faster. And the color is not a hot pink. It looks more like a racing machine and your old one looks like a trainer. "This is what I raced with back in the day." Go girl !!!

It looks just great. I starting humming 'Sexy back' as soon as I saw it. Now I am waiting for the video montage with you, the chair, and JT himself.

Thats one hot chair.

Hey, you may be someone that can help me with this...I have been given the task of spending obscene amounts of money for the Adapted program at my university, and on our spending spree we have chosen to buy a racing chair to use as a demo for able bodies to try out as well introduce people with disabilities to the sport. Spastic legs and race chairs dont exactly mix, so I have very limited experience racing...can you offer any suggestions? Invacare vs. Quickie, options to make sure i get, chair set up, anything at all?

Invacare all the way. I have never seen anyone use a Quickie race chair and didn't actually know that they existed until just the other day.

The Top End frame is actually really reasonable right now, I think about $2500. You don't need and actually shouldn't get disc wheels for beginners (they're kind of finicky and can be damaged really easily, not to mention way more expensive).

Other than that it's pretty basic. I'd suggest giving Chris Peterson at Invacare a call or email (cpeterso@invacare.com or 1-800-532-8677) and telling him that you're looking to purchase a demo(s?). He's the master guru fitter man and will have a good idea of the size you should get.

The pain in the arse with racing chairs is that the fit is so specific. If you really have an obscene amount of cash, you could maybe get two chairs (one bigger, one smaller). It's going to be tough to fit ABs and PWDs in the same chair because those ABs have some big asses/thighs that have to be accomodated....

OK seriously I have to write a paper now ARG LIVEJOURNAL!
